Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Financial Analyst to join our Financial Planning and Analysis Team in Brampton or Ottawa ON.

In this role you will provide strategic input into operational issues and will be accountable for the delivery of financial planning and analysis services such as budgeting, management reporting, general financial support and forecasting that support the achievement of business objectives. You will support the achievement of broad business goals by being the point person for financial analysis needs of the business, including cost / operational analysis for current and future state.

Formula for Success

  • Utilizing your expertise as a financial business partner, provide support to business leaders on all aspects of budgeting, reporting and forecasting processes for current and future organizational objectives.
  • Relying on your proficiency in variance analysis, highlight the main impacts and drivers of deviations and providing option analysis as well as executing various costing models and analysis.
  • Using your financial acumen and expertise, manage the day-to-day financial activities to ensure compliance with established guidelines, processes and identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Leveraging your process improvement analysis expertise, play a key role to identify, establish and maintain financial and non-financial key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Drawing on your superior financial reporting knowledge, execute and deliver reports and special analysis as required and provide financial and business administrative services required by business unit leaders.
  • Using your collaborative skills, coach and improve the financial acumen and decision-making of the people you support.

Desired Education and Skills

  • Has a Canadian CPA designation or has a comparable accounting or finance designation or has certification and equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
  • Understanding and experience in the use of SAP or an equivalent ERP is required.
  • Proficiency in FI Financial Accounting, CO Management Accounting and Controlling MM Materials Management WM - Warehouse Management SAP Module (or an equivalent ERP application) is beneficial.
  • Experience in IBM Analytics is beneficial.
  • Experience in a large not-for-profit or health care organization is beneficial.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; client-focused thinking with the ability to develop trust and relationship at all levels and to become integrated into strategy and decision making of the business unit.
  • Strong analytical skills including relating operational and financial data, summarizing and presenting complex information and highlight salient points in insightful ways to drive business decisions.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
