Job description

Reporting to the Supervisor Family Wellness, the Family Resource Worker will work as a support to the Family Wellness office in close concert with the Community Social Services Worker and other community resources to coordinate prevention programs for families, children, youth, elders and the community as a whole. Much of the work done by the incumbent will be completed within communities with limited supports. The ability to work with and support other disciplines in promoting the overall health of both the family and community will be a vital part of the incumbent’s role as the Family Resource Worker.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement family wellness activities rooted in Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) Principles and cultural practices
  • Facilitate culturally relevant programs, including land-based activities, elder mentorship, and traditional parenting workshops
  • Act as a bridge between traditional Inuit knowledge and contemporary service delivery
  • Provide early intervention and preventative support to families facing challenges, working to reduce involvement with crisis-driven services
  • Advocate for accessible, community-led services that align with the values and realities of Inuit families
  • Work closely with regional and territorial Family Wellness teams to share best practices and program innovations
Qualifications

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a grade twelve (12) diploma, along with two (2) years of related experience. A Human Services Diploma or Social Services Worker Diploma or related certificate is an asset. The successful incumbent must be able to complete the Applied Suicide Intervention Training (ASSIST) training within six months from date of hiring. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Fluency in Inuktut is required. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets. Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.

Official Languages
