Job description
Overview

We are recruiting a 0.6 FTE General Practitioner Oncology (GPO) to join Dr. Katie Forman in the GP Oncology Program at KBRH. The role will provide comprehensive cancer services to patients across all tumor sites in a rural community oncology clinic. The clinic is situated in Kelowna or the Vancouver area and operates a team‑based care model with supervision from both medical and radiation oncology specialists.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise treatment using chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy.
  • Provide patient education, supportive care, and end‑of‑life/palliative care planning.
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary oncology teams to ensure safe and effective treatment.
  • Manage acute toxicities, dose adjustments, and modify treatment plans as needed.
  • Support infusion administration and prepare visit summaries.
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance and monitoring for patients post‑treatment to detect recurrence or complications.
  • Maintain regular communication with specialists regarding care plans and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Act as a resource for oncology patients’ primary care providers and other health‑care professionals, offering guidance on work‑ups of suspected cancers, referral processes, and management strategies.
Qualifications & Support

No prior oncology experience is required. The department will support the successful applicant in developing the requisite expertise for this role. There is no on‑call service or evening work associated with this position.
