Facility Operator(s)

Part Time Up to 24 hours/week (1 existing position)

The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to perform the duties of Facility Attendant, primarily scheduled at the Wasaga Stars Arena and Wasaga Beach Public Library.

The successful candidate will be required to perform the duties of cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of the Town’s Wasaga Stars Arena and library facility and other municipal buildings and grounds under the Recreation and Facilities Department as assigned. The candidate will be required to learn the operation of the arena as well as having a general knowledge of other facility repairs, maintenance and cleaning.

As a seven day a week operation, the candidate will be required to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays, and have the ability to work overtime on short notice. The candidate must have the ability to work both independently and as a team member.

Qualifications
  • Ontario Secondary School diploma or equivalent;
  • Requires proof of an unrestricted valid class “G2” Ontario Drivers License (minimum);
  • Previous experience, and a proven ability, to carry out facility maintenance, repairs and janitorial duties is required;
  • Basic Refrigeration certificate an asset;
  • Physically able to perform all duties of this physically active position including heavy lifting and indoor as well as outdoor work in all conditions;
  • Good understanding of Safe Operating Procedures for power tools and associated facility maintenance equipment;
  • Good organizational and decision making skills;
  • Standard First Aid certification, CPR, Defibrillator and WHIMIS training is also a benefit;
  • Ability to provide a current, acceptable Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector) if hired;
  • A proven ability to deal with the public and other staff in a courteous and efficient manner;
  • The candidate must have the ability to work both independently and as a team member;
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including: days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays and overtime on short notice as required.
Hourly Rate

$ 21.88 (2026) as per the CUPE Collective Agreement
