Facilities Member

Permanent - Full-Time

Annual Salary Range : $55,000 - $64,000

The Bishop Strachan School is seeking a Facilities Member to support our over 105-year-old building. As a member of a team, the Facilities Member is required to perform preventative and regular maintenance tasks, ensure the safe operations of equipment and maintain interior / exterior areas of the school building.

Hours of Work
  • Monday to Friday Regular Hours : 7 : 30 am - 4 : 00 pm
  • Weekend Shifts (Sat and Sun) every 4 weeks with Monday and Tuesday off
  • Emergency On-Call rotating schedule of one week blocks
Working Conditions
  • Ability to push, lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Indoor and outdoor work required (all seasons)

Responsibilities
  • Performs general maintenance operations throughout the school, including : painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, pool and boiler maintenance functions
  • Completes facility repairs and minor renovations based on the needs developed by the automated maintenance program
  • Ability to move furniture using appropriate equipment for room changes and renovations
  • Waste management - exterior garbage collection and manage the pick up bulk bins, manage recycling / garbage room
  • Assists with traffic control and cross walk monitoring during school arrival and dismissal throughout the school year
  • Acts as the point person with general and maintenance contractors (e.g. elevators, roofing, windows) ensuring appropriate service and pricing
  • Works with the Facilities Team to respond to emergencies (i.e. floods, fire alarms, power failures, etc.)
  • Provides general grounds-keeping support
  • Delivers packages, supplies and equipment to the appropriate departments or storage areas
  • Acts as Emergency On-Call staff to cover after regular shift, when required, includingweekends and public holiday
