Executive Director – Toronto United Church Council (TUCC)

Toronto United Church Council (TUCC) is a mission-focused charitable organization that supports the work of the communities of faith of The United Church of Canada in south-central Ontario. TUCC partners with communities of faith and community organizations to strengthen and enable their long-term sustainability. With a tradition of service spanning more than a century, TUCC offers strategic support, consulting services, capital loans, grants and awards, investment opportunities, property management services, and innovative ministry initiatives, including its online learning platform CHURCHx. TUCC invites nominations and applications for the role of Executive Director, a position that will have an indelible impact on the future of the organization and the communities it serves.

Reporting to TUCC’s Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the organization’s lead administrator and the face of TUCC. They provide strategic and operational leadership, oversee stewardship of financial and human resources, support effective governance, and guide the delivery of programs and services that enable communities of faith and partners to thrive. The Executive Director will lead a team of approximately 12 staff, advise and collaborate with the Board of Directors, and ensure operational excellence across TUCC’s initiatives.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include providing strategic direction, ensuring financial stewardship, fostering a collaborative and accountable organizational culture, and advancing programs and services in alignment with TUCC’s mission.

Qualifications
  1. Demonstrated capacity to provide theological reflection that informs and guides the organization’s vision, direction, and operations;
  2. Significant senior leadership experience, with part of that experience preferably gained within a progressive, dynamic, and inclusive church-based environment;
  3. Demonstrated capacity for financial stewardship, including budgeting, oversight of investments, and/or management of loan or capital programs;
  4. Experience leading and developing teams, fostering accountability, and building collaborative, mission-driven cultures; and
  5. Strong business acumen, with expertise in governance support, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and working with boards operating under policy governance models; and
  6. A theological degree or equivalent faith-based education, which would be considered an asset; a business degree or equivalent training would also be considered an asset.

The salary for the position will be approximately $120,000 CAD per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This posting reflects a planned leadership transition within the organization.
