Executive Director, Avenue II Community Program Services

Avenue II is seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Director to lead the overall strategic, financial, and operational success of Avenue II. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for leading a dedicated team to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality services, while strengthening Avenue II’s presence as a trusted partner in the developmental services sector.

This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative, values-driven leader who is passionate about community inclusion, person-centred supports, organizational excellence, and positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the Multi-Year Strategic Plan
  • Advise the Board and support strong governance practices
  • Ensure person-centred, high-quality support services align with Avenue Il’s mission
  • Lead program development, service innovation, and new initiatives
  • Monitor service outcomes, regulatory compliance, and quality standards
  • Oversee all HR functions including recruitment, performance management, and policy implementation
  • Build strong labour-management relations in a unionized environment
  • Support a collaborative, inclusive, and safe workplace for all staff
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management
  • Oversee financial reporting, audits, and funding agreements
  • Ensure strong internal controls and the overall fiscal health of the organization
  • Represent Avenue II with government ministries, agencies, and community partners
  • Strengthen relationships with funders, sector partners, and stakeholders
  • Promote the organization’s mission through effective public relations and communications
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Human Services, Business, Public Administration, or a related field required
  • Master’s degree (MPA, MBA, MSW, Leadership, or related) is an asset
  • 7-10 years of progressive senior leadership experience, ideally in developmental services, social services, non-profit, or related public sector environment
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors and supporting governance processes
  • Experience leading unionized teams and navigating labour relations
  • Strong understanding of Ontario’s Developmental Services System (DSO), legislation, and Quality Assurance Measures
  • Demonstrated capacity in strategic planning, financial management, HR leadership, and operations
  • Proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, person-centred planning, and ethical leadership
