Overview

Are you passionate about outdoor events and ready to bring exciting mountain experiences to life at Sun Peaks Resort? We seek a highly motivated Events Assistant to support the planning, coordinating, and execution of various mountain events at Sun Peaks Resort. This role involves assisting in event logistics, including setting up and tearing down equipment, ensuring health and safety protocols, managing volunteer recruitment and scheduling, and maintaining event supplies and infrastructure. The Events Assistant will also act as a liaison between Sun Peaks and third-party event partners, working closely with internal departments to ensure the smooth execution of all event activities.

Compensation Information: $50,000.00 per annum

Physical Requirement This position requires significant physical labour and outdoor work in a mountain environment. While office tasks are vital to the role, they are only sometimes the primary focus. This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Accountabilities
  • Assist with planning and production of various mountain events
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed with any/all event activations
  • Set up and tear down mountain events, related equipment, and infrastructure
  • Recruiting, organizing, and coordinating event volunteer programs, including scheduling
  • Act as liaison between Sun Peaks and third-party event producers or partners
  • Communicate initiatives with various Sun Peaks community stakeholders
  • Coordinate with internal departments as required for planning and execution purposes
  • Upkeep, inventory and maintenance of event supplies and infrastructure
  • Execution of various event tactics as required
  • Assist with the development of departmental policies and procedures
  • Assist with pre-event planning documents and post-event debriefs/measurements
  • Shared services (support) to the Sales team at SPG in relation to the delivery of Events as required.
  • Shared services (support) to the Marketing team in relation to the delivery of Events as required.
  • This role while reporting to the Events Supervisor, should also support others within the Events team.
Ideal Candidate
  • Ability to safely drive a snowmobile. Knowledge of Sun Peaks Ski Trails
  • Intermediate or above skiing or snowboarding ability essential
  • Experience operating snowmobiles, ATVs and hauling trailers is essential
  • Knowledge of Sun Peaks Mountain trails
  • Previous work experience in coordinating outdoor events, races, or activations
  • Experience in and knowledge of the mountain resort industry an asset
  • Experience in the recreation or tourism industry and assets
  • Must be comfortable with consistent physical labour (able to lift 50-70 lbs)
  • Must be capable of working outside in variable weather conditions
  • Must communicate well with others and work as a team
  • Organized, efficient, and dependable
  • Must understand the value of creating and maintaining a sense of urgency
  • Be willing and able to work a flexible schedule as required
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Audio visual equipment experience and knowledge, an asset
  • Computer literacy required (MS Office, MS Excel, Outlook)
