Job Description

We currently have an opening for a Junior Environmental Scientist in our Vancouver office.

We offer a culture that promotes entrepreneurial spirit within the stability of a well-established company and many professional development and advancement opportunities for those with an aptitude for consulting. You have a scientific background in aquatic or wildlife ecology and experience with environmental management and protection measures. The position involves working under professional mentorship through all project phases, including a balance of field and office-based responsibilities. Occasionally, travel and remote work will be required.

What you will be doing:
  • Planning and completing pre-construction surveys for fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and/or mammals.
  • Conducting wildlife and/or fish salvage and relocation, when necessary.
  • Monitoring construction, including erosion and sediment control, water quality, and environmentally sensitive areas.
  • Assisting with project planning and implementation, including health and safety, equipment and travel logistics.
  • Providing technical support for regulatory approvals (permit applications, reports, plans, etc.).
  • Preparing documents to guide construction and to ensure environmental compliance.
Job Requirements
What you will bring:
  • Undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) or diploma in a relevant pure or applied science.
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental consulting, experience on construction sites and handling wildlife/fish is an asset.
  • Registration or eligibility to become registered with a professional regulator (e.g. BC College of Applied Biologists, BC Institute of Agrology, Engineers and Geoscientists of BC).
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work outside in various weather and terrain conditions.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience in statistical computations considered a benefit.
  • Valid driver's licence.

The hourly wage range for this position is $30.00 to $43.00 and is commensurate with experience relative to this position.
