Environmental Junior Field Assistant

Environmental Junior Field Assistant - Permanent, FT

Office Location: Fort St. John, BC. Candidate is expected to be able to work from our Fort St. John location and must have travel flexibility to conduct remote field / camp work.

Pay Range: $22 to $30/hour. Compensation is based on experience, education, and overall suitability for the role. Our total compensation package includes overtime, extended health benefits with no cost sharing, vacation pay, and a bonus profit-share program designed to favor field staff.

Our areas of expertise include contaminated sites, reclamation, and natural sciences work.

The primary function of the Environmental Assistant is to assist the team, both in the field and in the office with work that includes, but is not limited to, complying with all health and safety requirements, undertaking field sampling (soil, GW, and SW), documentation of site conditions and observations, and completion of daily field reports. This position includes significant fieldwork activities.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting with investigation, remediation, reclamation, or natural sciences field activities in accordance with regulatory requirements and SynergyAspen’s preferred operating procedure.
  • Organization of required field documentation and equipment.
  • Ensures timely deliveries of samples or product, to client or labs as required.
  • Office work includes assisting in data entry and preparation of technical reports.
  • Adhere to client specific and SynergyAspen’s Health and Safety policies.
  • Provide excellent levels of service to our internal and external clients.
  • Maintain billable targets as set by Supervisor.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed.
  • Working outside in all conditions with a positive, cooperative attitude, reflecting SynergyAspen's corporate values, while working independently and with a multi-disciplinary team.

  • 2-year technical diploma or degree in Environmental Sciences.
  • Previous field experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work in camps for extended periods and potential remote locations, when required.
  • Capable of meeting periodic, heavy, physical demands in a demanding all-weather work environment; experience working around heavy equipment is an asset.
  • Possess clean driving record and ability to provide acceptable driver's abstract.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs, specifically Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word.
