Job description

Millar Western Forest Products is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Environmental Coordinator to join our team at the Whitecourt, Alberta BCTMP Mill. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Environmental Services, this role provides hands‑on coordination and technical support for environmental programs, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working with operations, maintenance, engineering teams, and external partners, the Coordinator supports monitoring and reporting programs, contractor coordination, trial and chemical initiatives, sludge management, audits, and data analysis related to the effluent treatment system and Bio‑Energy Plant. This role plays a key part in ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting permitting and audit requirements, identifying improvement opportunities, and providing technical guidance to technicians and operators while promoting Millar Western’s strong safety and environmental stewardship culture.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will hold a post‑secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Sciences, Waste Water Management, Power Engineering, or a related field, with 3–5 years of experience in an industrial or pulp mill environmental environment.

The ideal candidate will bring practical knowledge of wastewater treatment systems, environmental monitoring and compliance processes, sampling protocols, and data management, along with strong organizational and communication skills. While this role does not include direct supervisory responsibilities, the ability to provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to technicians, operators, and contractors is considered an asset.
