WSP is seeking a junior Environmental Consultant to join our Contaminated Lands team in Ottawa. You’ll play a key role in delivering site assessment and remediation projects for a wide range of clients, including municipal, provincial, federal, and private sector partners. Our Ottawa clients provide opportunities to work globally, work with emerging contaminants and work on projects small to large. What you can expect to do here
  • Be involved in Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), site remediation, and support for Risk Assessments and Records of Site Condition (O.Reg. 153/04)
  • In the office, carry out record reviews (historical data and regulatory information), assist with data tabulation and interpretation of laboratory reports, report preparation and other office assignments
  • In the field, assist with or lead sampling, surveying, groundwater, surface water, sediment and soil vapour sampling, as well as supervise conduct borehole drilling, monitoring well installation, test pit excavation and remediation
  • Develop proposals, conceptual site models, and work programs
  • Support health and safety initiatives and promote a safety-first culture
Qualifications
  • Have a Bachelor’s or Masters degree in engineering, geology, hydrogeology or environmental sciences.
  • Have 0–2 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on site assessment and remediation
  • Are eligible for professional certification (P.Eng., P.Geo) (strong candidates who may not be eligible will also be considered)
  • Are prepared to spend part of your early career in the field;
  • Are willing to travel for work (short term work placements)
  • Have a passion for technical work and learning new skills;
  • Have excellent communication skills (verbal, written), strong attention to detail and a passion for health and safety
  • Have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for local fieldwork (reimbursable)
