Overview

Engineering Technician / Technologist role at Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver. This is a full-time position based in Timmins, Ontario, at the Bell Creek Mine. Relocation to the Timmins area is required and this is not a camp-based position. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10 hrs/day.

Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, operates the Bell Creek Complex located about 20 kilometres northeast of Timmins. The complex includes an underground mine and processing facility. Ore is mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods and processed via a modern shaft with substantial capacity. About the Opportunity

We are looking to hire an Engineering Technician / Technologist to join the Bell Creek Mine in Porcupine, ON, on a full-time basis. The role reports to the Senior Mine Engineer or designate.

In this role, the Engineering Technician is responsible for various engineering functions related to underground mining.

Responsibilities include:

• Design and issue drill patterns, loading and timing for production blasting
• Assist with borehole surveys and fragmentation studies
• Conduct ventilation surveys of the underground workings, perform inspections, and troubleshoot to maintain compliance
• Assist with various underground surveying tasks of active headings and issue updated driving layouts
• Conduct routine underground inspections to support planning and design tasks
• Gather and analyze data, plan, organize and prioritize work, deliver timely information

Secondary responsibilities may include :

• Assist with time studies, routine engineering projects, and other QA / QC tasks
• Prepare and conduct weekly ventilation meetings
• Assist with sampling requirements for the Airborne Hazard Management Plan
• Design upcoming development headings and produce driving layouts
• Provide continuous support to items related to the Water Management Plan
• Update master level drawings, master long sections and master ventilation schematics
• Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop knowledge and skills to keep up with changing methods and technology
• Perform other duties as requested

• Two-year Mine Technician or three-year Mine Technologist college degree or related experience
• Minimum two years’ experience in ventilation, surveying, and/or similar underground work
• Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist (OACETT) is an asset
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, MS Project, PowerPoint)
• Hands-on experience in mine planning; Deswik software is an asset
• Ability to use and calibrate survey equipment, including borehole monitoring equipment
• Experience with planning/design is an asset
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with various workgroups
• Eligible to work in Canada
