Qualifications

Position Summary:

The Engineer in Training (EIT) is responsible for supporting asphalt plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. This role ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards while coordinating production schedules, managing inventory, and assisting with capital projects. The position requires strong organizational and technical skills to support operational teams, maintain budget targets, and drive continuous improvement through KPI management. Collaboration with Superintendents, Foremen, and other departments is essential to achieve production goals aligned with company objectives.

Job Duties:
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation and company policies
  • Implement and maintain production and maintenance schedules; monitor costs and inventory
  • Support Superintendents and Foremen with training, project execution, and Capex programs
  • Coordinate production to meet sales targets and manage KPI programs for efficiency improvements
  • Assist with budgeting, reporting, supplier relations, and government site visits
  • Support property compliance efforts and participate in special projects as assigned
Requirements:
  • University degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Mining), Engineering Technology, or Business preferred
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience and strong knowledge of OH&S regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office (including MS Project); familiarity with SAP, Viewpoint, and AutoCAD is an asset
  • Valid Ontario G-Class driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills
  • Demonstrates initiative, collaboration, and adaptability to changing priorities
