Job description

CrowdStrike is a global leader in cybersecurity focused on stopping breaches with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large-scale distributed systems and process trillions of events daily. We are a mission-driven company that values flexibility, autonomy, and a culture centered on customers, community, and each other.

About the Product: CrowdStrike Falcon is a two-component security product. One component is a sensor (a lightweight agent installed on client environments) that observes system activity, detects malicious behavior, provides on-box prevention, and sends remote telemetry to the Falcon cloud. The cloud component aggregates sensor telemetry, correlates malicious behavior across machines, and presents customers with a prioritized view of detected threats.

About the Role: This Software Development Engineer (SDE) role supports the engineering team that delivers the sensor on container-optimized Linux distros. You will design and implement new features in the sensor to secure cloud workloads, leveraging eBPF and other technologies. Features will extend the Falcon platform to provide visibility, detection, and prevention for container processes in orchestration environments like Kubernetes.

Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain high-performance Linux system software components. Analyze complex software features and design effective test strategies.
  • Ensure system reliability and performance through monitoring, testing, and debugging. Identify root causes from tests or customer cases and use findings to improve tests.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to maintain high product quality. Work with cross-functional teams to integrate sensor and cloud solutions and coordinate with product and release management to control risk and improve quality.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance. Promote engineering best practices including secure coding, testing paradigms, debugging, performance measurement, CI/CD, and OS internals to ensure fast, reliable sensor code.
  • Lead strategic technical initiatives focusing on containers and orchestrator security in public and private clouds.
  • Contribute to other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience delivering Linux/Unix product features in C/C++, with high concurrency and reliability requirements and attention to low-level characteristics (memory usage, performance, standards conformance).
  • Experience developing production eBPF code for security or networking.
  • Experience designing and developing container runtime engines or software that monitors containers and optimized runtimes for containers.
  • Experience programming cloud-native workloads using public clouds and container technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.).
  • Experience shipping major features and releases as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and work effectively in a distributed team.
