Job summary

A leading engine manufacturer is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician/Mechanic in Fort McMurray, AB to support operations at Suncor. This role involves customer engagement, performing preventative maintenance, and adhering to safety regulations. Candidates must possess a Heavy duty Red seal certification and have experience in field service work, preferably with engines used in mining. Competitive compensation includes an hourly rate of $66 and a monthly living allowance of $1,000, alongside a sign-on bonus of $5,000.

Description

Cummins is looking for an experienced Diesel Technician/Mechanic to complete our team in Fort McMurray, AB to support our operations at Suncor.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Engages customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Anticipates and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.
  • Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete less complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
  • Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on engine and related components in the field.
  • Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor.
  • Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens. Identifies additional service opportunities with customers.
  • Completes training in line with skill and business requirements.
  • Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Ensures adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
  • Heavy duty Red seal certification – Off road is mandatory
Experience
  • Basic level field service work experience
  • Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
  • Mining experience is an asset as this position supports our mining team.
  • Working on Komatsu’s products is an asset.
  • High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience is considered an asset for this role.
  • Customer facing service experience is required.
About The Role
  • Safety Sensitive Position
  • 14 shifts on, 14 shifts off rotation
  • Day and Night shifts
  • Work is at Suncor Base Plant
  • No accommodation – Cummins offers a monthly $1,000 allowance to cover this type of expenses.
  • You are responsible for transportation to the work site (ride sharing is also available)
  • Random drug and alcohol testing on site.
  • Service vehicle and tooling are provided.
  • Position will support our mining team.
  • Cummins offers a $5,000 sign on bonus for this position.
  • Premiums are associated with this position.
Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our Company Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
