A leading healthcare provider in Alberta is seeking an Electroneurophysiology Technologist II to conduct EEG recordings and support the Seizure Monitoring Unit. The position includes training junior staff, performing complex neurophysiology tests, and ensuring quality control procedures. Candidates must have formal qualifications and active registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists. This is a full-time role with various shifts and a competitive salary range.
Under general supervision, the Electroneurophysiology Technologist II performs standard and complex EEG recordings and provides EEG Technologist support to the Seizure Monitoring Unit and may or may not perform Ictal SPECT injections depending on the scope of their license. The Technologist II also performs at least one or more of the following: standard and complex Nerve Conduction studies (EMG) or Intraoperative Monitoring. The technologist may also perform Evoked Potentials in the lab or ICU setting. There is an expectation that the technologist will assist in the in-service training of junior personnel. The technologist is required to operate, maintain and troubleshoot electroneurophysiology equipment and keep accurate patient records. This position requires travel to and working at other adult acute care sites in the Calgary Zone as required.
As an Electroneurophysiology (EEG) Technologist, you will determine which ENP tests to perform based on clinical history, findings, and protocols. You will provide feedback to surgeons for early detection of intraoperative injury, allowing for immediate corrective measures and will resolve unusual or complex cases referred by the EEG Technologist I's or refers them to the appropriate individual(s). You will implement, maintain and assess approved quality control procedures. You will participate in the recruitment and selection of staff and coordinate the orientation of new employees. You will also provide technical and problem solving advice to other EEG Technologists.
Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
Graduation from a formal electrophysiology program, or equivalent training. Successful completion of Canadian Board of Registration of EEG Technologists (CBRET) examinations or equivalent in addition to either successful completion of the Board of Registration of Electromyography of Canada (BRETC) examinations or successful completion of the Certification Examination in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM). Current registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACDMTT). English language fluency to meet ACMDTT policy. Current CPR certification. Physical abilities: prolonged sitting/standing, pushing/pulling of equipment, assisting with patient transfers, sustained awkward postures involved in day to day work activities.
Minimum 3-5 years work experience in a Clinical Neurophysiology Lab. ACMDTT ictal SPECT injection enhanced practice authorization desired. ACMDTT Intraoperative Monitoring enhanced practice preferred. Proven leadership, teamwork and time management skills. Exceptional communication skills.
