Position Overview:

We are seeking a driven and experienced Electrical Lead to spearhead our expansion into electrical consulting. In this standalone position, the successful candidate possesses a high degree of autonomy and plays a key role in the evaluation, design and management of electrical systems for diverse building projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape our consulting practice, working on cutting-edge systems, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, and contributing to the development of sustainable and energy-efficient solutions.

General Responsibilities:

  • Marketing: Represent Sense Engineering professionally, building positive relationships with clients, contractors and other consultants.
  • Knowledge Development: Enhance your understanding of electrical systems design, energy modelling, life cycle analysis and costing while sharing insights and lessons learned with the team.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Provide electrical engineering consulting services, including system evaluations, feasibility studies, and technical recommendations.
  • Design and oversee electrical systems, including:
    • Building automation systems
    • Emergency power systems
    • Power distribution systems
    • Incoming electrical service
    • Lighting systems
  • Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for tendering purposes.
  • Prepare documentation for submission to the authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Conduct construction reviews to ensure project compliance with design specifications and standards.
  • Manage contract administration, including coordination with contractors, suppliers and clients.
  • Lead project management activities, ensuring timely and budget-conscious project delivery.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project integration.
  • Represent Sense at client meetings and other networking functions with a commitment to exceptional service standards.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, technologies and best practices to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited university or college.
  • Registered with or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering consulting, with a focus on building systems.
  • Proficiency in design and analysis tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit or similar software).
  • Strong understanding of Ontario Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code and other relevant standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • A problem solver with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a client-centric mindset.
  • Team player who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to creative thinking and approaching challenges from fresh perspectives, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation required.
