About the Role:

The Director of MRO Operations is responsible for leading MRO production execution and people leadership across Avmax's maintenance organization. This senior operational role ensure predictable, efficient, and high-quality delivery while developing strong, capable, and accountable leaders and teams.

This position is operationally focused and does not assume regulatory ownership.

Reporting

The Director of MRO Operations reports directly to the Senior Director of Operations (Canada).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day MRO production operations.
  • Drive operational metrics including schedule adherence, labour efficiency, and throughput.
  • Establish and sustain operating rhythms, cadence reviews, and performance standards.
  • Be a visible, engaged leader on the hanger floor.
  • Ensure safety, quality, and operational discipline are consistently upheld.
  • Manage, coach, and develop Program Managers, Project Managers, and Crew Chiefs.
  • Build leadership capability with a focus on accountability, engagement, and results.
  • Address performance concerns proactively while promoting employee growth.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and performance-driven culture.
  • Partner with Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, and other departments to remove constraints.
  • Drive alignment across teams to ensure predictable delivery.
  • Identify risks early, elevate appropriately, and lead recovery or mitigation plans.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and customer experience.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in aviation, engineering, business, or related fields is preferred.
  • Proven success managing leaders and frontline teams.
  • Strong execution mindset and ability to drive performance.
  • Demonstrated capability in coaching, accountability, and developing leaders.
  • Ability to engage in difficult conversations while cultivating trust.
  • Strong analytical and operational problem solving skills.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience in MRO operations, heavy maintenance, or equivalent aviation maintenance environment.
  • Experience working in regulated aviation environment (Transport Canada, FAA, etc.)
