Responsibilities
- Provide direction to the nursing team in all aspects of resident care and act as "In Charge" in the absence of the Executive Director.
- Oversee human resource management within the Nursing Department, including staffing, development, and performance.
- Maintain compliance with long-term care legislation, regulations, and health / safety standards.
- Develop and monitor resident-focused programs, policies, and procedures.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident care and safety.
- Manage nursing budgets, supply ordering, and monthly variance reporting.
- Investigate complaints, conduct inspections, and implement corrective actions as required.
- Ensure clinical programs (falls prevention, pain management, palliative care, etc.) are in place and evaluated regularly.
- Support and coach team members, fostering professional growth, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
- Build strong communication channels across teams, residents, and families.
- Inspire a culture of person-centred care and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or eligible under Bill 60 provisions.
- At least 1 year of RN experience in the long-term care sector.
- Minimum of 3 years in a managerial or supervisory healthcare role, or equivalent LTC nursing leadership experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices, long-term care legislation, and resident rights.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience with budgeting, staff performance, and risk management.
- Ability to provide compassionate, person-centred care and to support residents with responsive behaviours.
- Proof of current vaccines, TB testing, and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- French or Italian language skills are considered assets depending on location.
