POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The Director of Care provides leadership and direction to all care department staff including social work, recreation, volunteers, and leisure services.
The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class:
MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE: The incumbent must have the following experience before hire: Five years but less than seven years of prior related experience, including gerontology, management, program planning and education delivery, critical analysis, union, accreditation and budgeting experience.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL RESOURCES: The incumbent prepares part of the departmental budget. He/She may have limited input to the development of new policies and procedures pertaining to the management of financial resources.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES: The incumbent is responsible for the direct and indirect supervision of supervisory staff and non-supervisory staff reporting to supervisory subordinate. The incumbent directly supervises between 5-7 full-time employees, part-time employees, and/or volunteers and indirectly supervises between 45-60 full-time equivalent employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The incumbent’s work environment is typically throughout the facility. Those typical of a care facility. The incumbent may have little to no travel required. The incumbent works shift, is on-call and carries a pager/cell phone.

The target hiring range for this position is $92,630.70 to $115,788.38 with a maximum of $138,946.05. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
