Job Description

The Director, Finance will lead the Finance and Operations for Brookfield Global Transition Fund II ("BGTF II"), which focuses on investing into energy transition and decarbonization solutions. This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic, entrepreneurial team within a high-growth platform, offering meaningful exposure and significant long-term growth potential for high-performing individuals.

The successful candidate will be accountable for overseeing key financial reporting & operations deliverables for Senior Management and other stakeholders. Located in our head office in Downtown Toronto, the Director role is a highly visible role that provides excellent exposure to middle and senior leadership levels across various functions of the Brookfield-wide organization.

This role offers the unique opportunity to be involved with several important functions within our team, including financial reporting, financial operations, treasury and liquidity, compliance, investor relations, and business planning and forecasting. The incumbent will be frequently exposed to challenging topics, as well as drive continuous improvement across all deliverables. The successful candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent interpersonal skills, is detail oriented, possesses a high degree of intellectual curiosity and has a strong foundation in finance and accounting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic oversight for fund finance and operations, including liaising with external fund administrators, reporting on quarterly financial and ESG-focused performance returns and financial statements, addressing investor inquiries
  • Oversee and direct operational strategy for the fund, ensuring optimal liquidity management and capital efficiency, including but not limited to, treasury and operation functions, managing liquidity, onboarding new investments and overseeing capital transactions
  • Lead and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of reports on corporate and key business platforms, including operating metrics for portfolio of renewable investments
  • Establish and maintain subject matter authority across all fund operational matters to advise on fund operational matters inclusive of investor reporting, valuations, performance measurement, and fund administration
  • Oversee compliance obligations across the fund, ensuring timely monitoring, accurate reporting, and proactive resolution of issues in alignment with lender requirements, investor agreements, and internal governance standards
  • Review and prepare adhoc performance analysis, investor materials, due diligence questions and other to support fundraising process for new private renewable funds
  • Lead the annual audit process through liaison with external auditors
  • Foster high-level collaboration with senior internal stakeholders and executive-level external partners to ensure legal entity records are maintained appropriately and in compliance with accounting standards and relevant policies
  • Review and prepare various analyses and reports for senior management to support their business decision making
  • Mentor and develop managers, senior analysts, and analysts, driving high performance and succession planning, including providing constructive feedback and performance reviews
  • Ad-hoc analyses and presentations on platform financial and operational results, as well as supporting any special projects
Qualifications & Requirements
  • CA or CPA designation with at least 7-10 years of progressive work experience in an accounting or finance function and with at least 2-3 years of managing teams
  • Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel skills
  • Highly analytical with great attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, a team player with positive attitude and pro-active approach to work
  • Experience managing staff through large projects and tight timelines
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills, can work effectively with all levels and departments within a complex organization
  • Can work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines
  • Strategic thinker that can think outside the box, focused on efficiency and improving existing processes
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development
