A leading Canadian bank is seeking a Developer for its Amplify summer program in Toronto. This position collaborates with a cross-functional team to tackle real business challenges through innovation. Candidates should be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution and possess strong programming, communication, and teamwork skills. As a Developer you will collaborate, innovate, ideate and build in a flexible, start-up environment. You will tackle real RBC business challenges as a member of a cross-functional team of specialists (business, data, and programming) by developing a product or solution to pitch to stakeholders at the end of the summer. You will have access to subject matter experts, coaches, mentors, and training resources to bring your idea to life.
Immerse yourself in a business challenge with a focus on collaboration to develop an innovative product.
Apply teamwork, critical thinking, communication and leadership skills to help your team succeed in ambiguity.
Research, design, create and deliver a fully functional prototype to RBC that solves a real business need.
Work with cutting edge technologies and industry standards.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, mentors, executive sponsors and stakeholders to build your solution.
Engage in continuous learning through training opportunities including design thinking and agile development.
Deliver executive presentations and develop strategy and communications for your project.
Must have
Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution, graduating between August 2026 and June 2027 (College, Undergrad, Master’s or PhD).
Understanding of programming languages, databases, platforms, frameworks, design techniques and tools, code management tooling, and/or web technologies.
Understanding of Agile methodologies and processes.
Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills.
Ability to challenge the status quo and think outside the box to develop solutions.
AND one or more of the following:
Experience with cloud platforms and related technology.
Experience with mobile application development.
Experience with DevOps tools and processes.
Experience with full-stack technologies such as Spring Frameworks, Angular, NodeJS, Flask, etc.
Experience with service-based architectures and API development (Rest, GraphQL, etc.).
Experience with hackathons.
Comfortable presenting to stakeholders and large audiences.
Interest or experience in the financial industry or FinTech.
Practical experience in web or mobile development.
Experience with agile or design thinking methodologies or frameworks.
Experience using Figma.
