Job description
Overview

Position Description: This FULL-TIME position is mainly working on the delivery truck of Mission Thrift Store Hamilton. This includes the loading and unloading of goods. This position will also provide assistance to the Furniture and Receiving Departments. The Delivery Assistant will report to the Store Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Primary Activities: Will assist with the truck and all that entails.
  • Will assist in the furniture department (Prepping furniture for sales floor, taking items to the sales floor and pricing furniture).
  • Will assist in the receiving of goods from both receiving areas (Furniture & Regular Donations).
  • Practice good Health and Safety in every area. Provide good customer service when dealing with the public.
  • Secondary Activities: Standing and walking for most of the day
  • Frequent reaching, bending and stretching
  • Lifting and carrying goods
  • Some Saturday work may be required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge The Delivery Assistant must have proficient knowledge in the following areas: Experience with retail sales, working with volunteers is preferred. Will be able to read store policy and procedures and follow it. Have a working knowledge of WHMIS – have certificate or willing to get it.

Skills The Delivery Assistant must demonstrate the following skills: Ability to multi-task; work in a fast-paced environment with grace and good humor. Must have a valid (G) Driver\'s License with clean driving abstract. Good conflict resolution skills. Be organized and neat. Basic computer skills to be able to effectively communicate and produce maps for deliveries.
