Overview

Ready to shape the future of AI-driven advertising and build products that transform how brands connect with audiences? We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join Salt Media and be a part of the evolution. Salt Media facilitates more informed, valuable conversations between companies and the people they serve, with a mission to “Bring Audiences Home.” As an AI-driven media agency powered by our own proprietary products, we help clients make smarter ad buying decisions while delivering a better experience for brands and consumers alike. Our product suite blends data science and marketing to empower clients in their digital media, social buying, and first-party data strategies.

  • Podium, our next-gen media mix modelling and measurement platform
  • Frontrunnr, our automated social boosting and ad optimization platform
  • Media Mob, our creator discovery platform

As one of our Data Scientists, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and refining these products and envisioning the next wave of transformative products.

About You

If you’re an engineer who loves building product, has an ownership mentality, and is eager to learn and evolve, you might be excited to join Salt Media:

  • Work with Cutting-Edge AI: You’ll engage with generative models, ML-driven decision-making tools, and advanced data pipelines. You’ll use licensed AI tools internally and have opportunities to explore new tooling.
  • Autonomy and Ownership: Propose solutions, influence product direction, and shape development processes. Our flat org structure encourages direct communication and rapid execution.
  • Exposure to the Entire Business: Collaborate with product leaders, data scientists, client-facing teams, and leadership to broaden technical and business understanding.
  • Fast-Paced Growth and Learning: Evolving ad tech means constant learning, with opportunities as the company grows.
  • A Culture of Curiosity and Transparency: Open communication, direct feedback, and problem-solving culture.
Role Overview

As a Data Scientist, you’ll help redefine how the industry operates. You’ll work with a modern tech stack and partner with internal and client teams to develop new products and achieve client business goals. Reporting to the Director of Data Science, you will collaborate with internal and client business teams to develop novel products and systems.

Tech stack includes:

  • Python: The backbone of our codebase
  • Cloud Platforms: GCP-based infrastructure for scalability and reliability
  • Generative AI: Large language models and bespoke AI solutions

Core responsibilities include:

  • Creating and evolving data models that drive our products
  • Collaborating with software engineering to maintain data infrastructure (ETL, ML Ops)
  • Leading development and maintenance of media measurement and experimentation methodologies for AI/ML products
  • Developing, testing, deploying, and optimizing media mix models for predictive analytics
  • Monitoring data pipelines and model performance; improving accuracy and efficiency
  • Designing automated model selection, validation processes, and governance procedures
  • Translating business questions into statistical measures for use cases
  • Partnering with Software Engineering to co-develop AI/ML POVs or final products
  • Preparing client-ready deliverables and presenting findings to non-technical and leadership audiences
  • Conducting code reviews, mentoring juniors, documenting ML processes
  • Fostering a culture of product excellence and staying updated with research and market trends

Within the first 30 days you will: onboarding, set up development environment, meet team and CEO, and align with the Director of Data Science. Within 60 days you’ll begin independently contributing to feature development and own a small feature or service area. Within 90 days you’ll lead the development of a moderately complex model or improvement and contribute to tooling and best practices.

Experience & Skills

While not all may apply, we’d love to see:

  • BSc or higher in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Math, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in data science or analytics roles
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake)
  • 3+ years building and deploying ML models; familiarity with MLflow and end-to-end ML ops pipelines
  • Familiarity with data orchestration and pipeline management (Airflow), including AI pipelines
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, and Looker
  • Strong Python for statistical modeling (statsmodels, scikit-learn, PyMC, etc.)
  • Experience with MMM frameworks and building MMM models is a plus
  • Experience with distributed ML platforms (GPU-based) and tools like JAX, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
  • Excellent communication and ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong problem-solving and a passion for innovation in data science
  • Nice-to-have: experience with media mix modeling and advertising technologies; experience in “Big Tech”
