Job summary

A municipal government agency in British Columbia is seeking dynamic Visual Arts Instructors to teach recreational arts programs for children, youth, and adults. The instructors will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging courses in various art forms including drawing, painting, and sculpture. Candidates must have a love for art, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work evenings and weekends. Competitive salary at $31.00 per hour plus benefits is offered.

Qualifications

  • Ability to plan lessons for 8-10 weeks of classes.
  • Willing to work 2-4 hour shifts in various locations.
  • Comfortable leading art themed birthday parties.

Job description

City of Delta is looking for dynamic, creative, and energetic Visual Arts Instructors to teach our recreational arts programs for children, youth and adults. Arts instructors are responsible for the planning and delivering of quality, instructional, and engaging courses in drawing, painting, mixed media, anime, sculpting, textiles and/or photography. Classes are offered weekdays after school and weekends. Visual arts themed birthday parties are also offered.

If you have the following skills and abilities, this position may be for you:

  • Experience teaching drawing, painting, mixed media art, anime, textiles, sculpting
  • Formal training is an asset but not required; having a love of art and want to transfer that to students they teach is a must
  • Lesson planning for 8-10 weeks of classes
  • Able to work independently
  • Have strong customer service skills
  • Willing to work 2-4 hour shifts in Tsawwassen, Ladner, and/or North Delta
  • Are available to work evenings and weekends
  • Are comfortable leading art themed birthday parties

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $31.00 per hour + 12% in lieu of vacation, public holidays, and benefits.
