The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) prosecutes persons charged with Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act , and provincial statute offences. The ACPS promotes safe communities by vigorously prosecuting cases involving serious and violent crime and working with individuals and organizations in the community to identify and implement improved and alternative approaches to the administration of criminal justice.

As a Crown Prosecutor, you will help deliver justice through fearless, fair and effective prosecutions. The daily responsibilities of Crown Prosecutors encompass a multitude of duties, such as: bail, charge screening, early case resolution, alternative measures, whether to proceed to trial or discontinue a prosecution, conduct of all prosecutions, entering a stay of proceedings, withdrawing charges, plea resolution, provision of disclosure, electing to proceed summarily or by indictment, taking a position on sentence, drafting legal opinions/briefings, dealing with victims, witnesses and police, and launching appeals.

A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD), and active membership or immediate eligibility for membership with the Law Society of Alberta is required.

The Hours of Work are 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Travel within Alberta to circuit court locations is a requirement for this role.
Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo security screening. Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate.

Successful candidate(s) may be eligible for relocation expenses up to $10,000.00.
