Overview

The JDI Tax Team is a dedicated group of professionals responsible for providing Canadian and UStax services and advice to the diverse businesses that make up the J.D. Irving, Limited group of companies. It is a unique team that takes great pride in its work product and offers candidates a real opportunity to learn and grow.

We are seeking qualified candidates to join our Corporate Tax team in Saint John, New Brunswick. The Corporate Tax Analyst needs to be detail-oriented, results-driven and willing to ask questions. Strong organizational skills are a must. We are looking for a self-starter who can work with team members to learn and grow while leveraging their own tax experience. This position is located at our head office in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Qualifications
  • A university or college degree in a relevant business field.
  • The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 3+ years of experience in Canadian corporate tax compliance and/or audits.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a sense of urgency and high attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation or equivalent experience in tax and accounting would be considered an asset.
  • Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax program or interest to enroll would be considered an asset.
Responsibilities

This position would relate primarily to Canadian corporate income tax and would involve working with the other members of the Corporate Tax team to:

  • Prepare Canadian corporate income tax returns and other tax-related filings.
  • Prepare year-end and interim Canadian corporate income tax provisions.
  • Provide assistance to the US Corporate Tax team with tax filings and tax provisions.
  • Research and analyze tax issues.
  • Draft technical tax memos and other tax-related documents.
  • Conduct tax-related due diligence for acquisitions.
  • Prepare responses to audits from tax authorities.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with our clients and the other departments within J.D. Irving, Limited.
