A healthcare organization in Port McNeill is seeking a Food Service Worker to prepare food, manage meal trays, and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen. The role requires effective communication and physical ability to perform various tasks, including operating kitchen equipment. Candidates must have graduated from a recognized cooking program and possess skills in effective interaction and organization. This position is vital to ensuring patient satisfaction through quality meal service.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Under the direction of the Manager or designate, prepares various food items by methods such as roasting, frying, grilling, steaming, poaching, boiling and baking and sets up trays, portions out food, delivers, collects and unloads meal service wagons, operates dishwashing machine and performs cleaning duties.
Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
