The Consultant Valuation (Consultant) works independently on valuations on a variety of complex assignments with a solid understanding of appraisal principals as it relates to a multitude of asset types. Actively engages with clients to gain an understanding of the client request and information request. The Consultant is involved in the preparation of more complex valuation reports which includes active engagement with peers in the industry conducting independent research with strong analytical skills in support of the Property Valuation practice. The Consultant contributes to the software databases to ensure excellent quality of inputs to facilitate report integrity. Understanding of property tax and the appeal process is an asset. The Consultant is responsible for creating positive team member experiences which lead to excellent client service. The candidate will be effective in researching issues, reconciling issues, and completing detailed calculations. Education and Experience
  • Post-Secondary Degree required with preference having a business (real estate) background.
  • Path to AACI designation nearing completion is an asset.
  • Minimum two years experience in valuation.
  • Desire to perform in a high-energy team environment.
  • Demonstrates leadership, problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, manage ambiguity and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
  • Seeks to advance involvement in the real estate industry through attending professional organization meetings and networking functions.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research. Experience with appraisal related programs such as Argus are an asset.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver’s license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has limited supervisory responsibilities with an Analyst to mentor them on basic appraisal practice.

Work Environment
  • Standard indoor working environment.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting or standing while working.
  • Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in person via e‑mail and telephone.
  • Independent travel requirement: 50 to 100%.
