Job Objective
This hands-on role is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of the facility, equipment, and production machinery. It involves troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Working both independently and as part of a team, the Maintenance Technician ensures optimal equipment performance and contributes to a proactive maintenance approach focused on safety, reliability, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative and Corrective Maintenance
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment and building systems.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Assemble, install, and commission new machinery and equipment.
- Identify and implement equipment improvements.
Facility and Equipment Support
- Complete general building maintenance tasks including painting, door repair, and minor plumbing.
- Operate tools and equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, and aerial work platforms.
- Maintain documentation and logs of maintenance activities.
Safety and Team Collaboration
- Participate in Toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Follow the health and safety program and contribute to a safety-first workplace culture.
- Work staggered shifts and provide overtime and weekend coverage as needed.
Requirements
- Journeyperson certification in Heavy Duty Mechanic, Millwright or Industrial Electrician.
- 5–10 years of industrial maintenance experience in an environment with heavy machinery.
- Competency and valid tickets in Overhead Crane, Forklift, Aerial Work Platform, Fall Protection, and Confined Space.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean record and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computers.
Preferred
- Experience with heavy equipment, industrial welding, or advanced troubleshooting.
Work Conditions and Context
- Travel: Reliable transportation to and from work is required. A valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean driving record are necessary to pick up or drop off parts, supplies, or small equipment. Occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be required for training purposes.
- Conditions: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on-site is required, including hard hat, high-visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, and respiratory protection where applicable. Duties may be performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and temperatures. The role involves exposure to heat, cold, dust, wind, and noise, as well as climbing ladders, working at heights, lifting up to 55 lbs, and working in awkward positions on or around equipment.
- Equipment and Machinery: Operation of hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, and table saws is required. Once certified and competent, the technician will operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and aerial work platforms.
