Qualifications

Good Shepherd is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Community Mental Health Worker - HOMES Mobile.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for assessment, planning, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counselling, education, advocacy, and conflict resolution between tenants and landlords
  • Facilitating social interaction and community integration
  • Provide linkages with other community services
  • Provide primary support to individuals and support their recovery planning
  • Some opportunities include work done in the community and in tenant apartments, with driving required for the Mobile Team
  • Must be willing and able to assist in a hands-on capacity with tenants
  • Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
Qualifications
  • Primary case management and community development skills acquired through a post-secondary education in social work, registered practical nurse, or other human service field
  • Minimum of five years' experience in mental health in a community-based setting
  • Experience in an outreach/mobile environment is an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources, the forensic system and the social and environmental determinants of health
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity
  • Recovery-oriented and consumer-driven style of practice
  • Some positions require a valid driver's license for our Mobile Team and willingness to use a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance
  • Time management skills in a high-energy, changing environment
  • Individual and team problem-solving capability
  • Pro-active approach to service provision
