The Opportunity
The Communications Manager role at Roche Canada Pharma is a senior, strategic position that brings together internal and external communications strategies to drive impact for patients and our business. You will tell powerful stories about the difference innovative medicines make in the lives of patients and society. You will tailor our messages to different audiences - traditional media, across social channels, through external speaking engagements, with leading healthcare system stakeholders, and patients.
You will work with Roche\'s senior leaders to give voice to our positions and share our belief that we all have a role in contributing to a healthier future for Canadians. In this role, you will be responsible for the following areas, but not exclusively limited to them
- Developing and implementing comprehensive communications strategies that shape and position the Roche brand and reputation. By tailoring messages to specific audiences at the right time and through the right channels, you ensure our communications have a powerful impact.
- Drawing on key business insights, creating cohesive and outcome-based communications strategies that align with Roche Canada's objectives.
- Accessing innovative healthcare, leading cross-functional visibility efforts, maintaining a deep understanding of Roche Canada's medicines, therapeutic areas, healthcare policies, and other relevant factors.
- Collaborating closely with stakeholders, aligning messaging and approaches, co-creating content, and identifying opportunities for employee engagement across all functions within Roche Canada Pharma.
- Leading with a strong vision and strategy, anticipating both problems and opportunities, assessing the likelihood of their occurrence and identifying the key drivers behind them, enabling you to efficiently manage and address them.
Who you are
- You hold a bachelor\'s degree and 7+ years experience in communications/marketing in the pharmaceutical Industry and therapeutic fields.
- You have experience writing across different mediums, and through different voices.
- You are a creative thinker who will bring bold ideas to the table and deliver new and highly effective communications while remaining in tune with local compliance and Canadian regulations.
In addition, you bring the following experience and competencies
Technical Ability
- You efficiently use the full range of technologies required for your job and are open to adopting new technologies, and learn new technologies quickly and thoroughly.
- You plan and execute projects according to agile principles to maximize strategic impact; design feasible, flexible budgets you can stick to; coordinate team members effectively; and monitor and report progress appropriately.
- You use Roche standards and procedures for communications and use all opportunities to leverage our unique culture as a source of differentiation.
Content & Messaging
- Your written and oral communications are clear, simple, concise, and engaging, whether you are communicating to individuals, small groups, or large audiences in your own voice or on behalf of others who will deliver Roche’s messages.
- You explore sophisticated audience segmentations, tap all available audience datasets as appropriate, build listening tools into message delivery channels, and quickly adjust messages when needed.
- You ensure messages are error-free; well adapted to their audiences, format, and channel; legally compliant; consistent with organizational and campaign narratives; and target behavior change whenever possible.
Collaboration & Decision Making
- You collaborate well with others by listening carefully to them, meeting their information needs, and communicating openly about your own skills and your limitations.
- You gather information necessary to make decisions, think through problems clearly and logically and are decisive; You make good decisions without necessarily having all of the information.
- You coach Communications colleagues and business partners in core communications skills and strategies when needed, and work to facilitate best practices in Communications organization-wide.
