Job description

Ottawa’s Protak Consulting Group is seeking a Communications Consultant for new opportunities with the federal government. Please note: This is a part-time, remote contract opportunity.

Scope of Work

The successful candidate would be required to work remotely part-time (2 days per week) starting the week of August 19.

Tasks would include but would not be limited to the following:
  • Planning, researching, modifying, assisting, writing and/or reviewing memos, briefing binders, essays and other non-journalistic articles with conformance to established standards;
  • Developing and implementing creative communication and information products using a variety of tools, techniques and media such as: visual identity marks, artwork labels, briefing binders, brochures, web and interactive communication content;
  • Developing and packaging of social media content for diplomatic mission dissemination including the coordinating images and curatorial texts, edited and translated texts, and reproduction rights;
  • Researching, developing and implementing communications strategies involving social media and related content for cultural diplomacy initiatives, presentations or events;
  • Provide support and assist communicators in using social media channels to complement traditional channels;
  • Ensuring information is communicated to the appropriate people in a timely manner;
  • Structuring external communications to project an appropriate corporate image;
  • Ensuring confidentiality with respect to organizational or client information and data;
  • Determine target audiences in order to better develop messages;
  • Developing metrics for communication strategies and projects.
Requirements
  • Strict requirement: An active, valid security clearance from the Government of Canada.
  • A post‑secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Media Relations or a related field.
  • Over 4 years’ experience developing communications content for art collections (museum, archive, library, public or private collections) preparing exhibitions and interpretive deliverables.
  • Recent experience in the design, development and implementation of communication strategies and plans for Government of Canada organizations.
  • Recent experience in the design, development and delivery or deployment of communications products and tools.
  • Recent experience facilitating stakeholder engagement activities for programs, projects and initiatives that includes the development of questions and answers, fact sheets, presentations, narratives and brochures.
  • Recent experience in providing advice to middle management on communication and engagement approaches related to programs, projects or initiatives.
  • All previous work experience must include client references.
  • Work will primarily be conducted in English.
  • Location of work: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Remote/hybrid work is a possibility.
