Job description

We are looking for an Underwriter to join our team in our Vancouver office!

Your day as an Underwriter

1. Underwrite basic to moderately complex books of commercial P&C products, coverage, pricing, production and delivery, risk management, and managing local brokerage plans.
2. Evaluate risks and make underwriting decisions based on company guidelines, risk appetite, and pricing strategies.
3. Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, providing exceptional customer service and delivering value-added solutions.
4. Manage the submission, quoting, and binding processes for new and renewal business, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
5. Collaborate with other underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to drive profitable growth and achieve sales goals.
6. Negotiate policy terms and conditions with brokers and clients, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulations.
7. Analyze data and trends to identify new business opportunities and develop marketing strategies.

Qualifications:

1. 5+ years of experience in P&C underwriting, preferably with an MGA.
2. Strong technical knowledge of P&C insurance products and services.
3. Proven record of underwriting profitability and growth.
4. Proficiency in data analysis and Excel; experience with data visualization tools is an asset.
5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
6. Attention to detail and precision.

The salary range for this role is from $80,000 to $110,000, based on experience and other factors.
