A healthcare provider in Canada is seeking a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I for a multisite position at Redwater Health Centre and Fort Saskatchewan Hospital Labs. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic procedures in both laboratory and imaging settings, collecting and analyzing specimens, and conducting X-ray examinations. Candidates must have a diploma in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology and be eligible for registration. This role offers a competitive salary range and various shifts.
Your Opportunity: This is a multisite position in which scheduled shifts will be at Redwater Health Centre and shifts at Fort Saskatchewan will be assigned as needed to support operations. Redwater is located on Highway 38, approximately 52 km north of Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan is located on Highway 38, approximately 52 km north of Edmonton. This position requires call back response of 30 minutes. This is a working level position utilizing technical skills and judgment performing a diverse range of diagnostic procedures in the Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, and Specimen Procurement and Diagnostic Imaging, within the scope of practice of a Medical Laboratory X-Ray Technologist. The successful candidate will perform routine bench duties in accordance with laboratory and diagnostic imaging policies and procedures to ensure a high quality, accurate and timely result. Ensures annual competencies are completed within specified timelines. Provides instruction and collects specimens ensuring sample integrity. Performs all quality control and assurance practices and maintains records as required. Operates, maintains, and performs troubleshooting on a variety of laboratory and x-ray instruments to ensure optimal function. Monitors department supply inventory and acts appropriately to maintain. Participates in the validation and assessment of procedures and equipment under the direction of the senior techs and other leaders. Responds appropriately to non-conforming events and unusual situations. Identifies when to refer more complex issues or problems to the immediate Supervisor. Contributes to operational improvements. Collaborates on the preparation of manuals and SOP.
Description: As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.
Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Experience in the last year with the Beaker and Radiant modules of Epic and Wellsky. Experience in the last year with phlebotomy.
Experience in the last year with Phillips DI analyzer and Fuji CR. Experience in the last year with the following analyzers: XT3400, Access2, Sysmex and Caresphere, Clinitek, ACL coagulation analyzers.
