This role is a national field-based position, from the province of Quebec, reporting to the Senior Manager, Clinical Specialist.

Opportunity

We have a new opportunity for a Clinical Specialist, Vision Care. The primary role is to support HCPs with continuing education by implementing and executing training programs, while driving environment, health, safety requirements and policies. The role includes product administration training for glaucoma, best practices sharing, and education on patient safety in clinics through virtual learning programs, one-on-one simulation workshops, and exposure to subject matter experts.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and execute training programs for HCPs against glaucoma therapy area strategic imperatives.
  • Perform baseline and ongoing assessments to identify training needs and develop tailored curricula and plans.
  • Coach and support healthcare professionals through their learning journey and determine when learning objectives are met.
  • Deliver follow-up training and coordinate additional support with clinical experts to address HCP requests for clinical guidance.
  • Build and facilitate efficient medical training sessions, including organizing surgical training and educational wet labs.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional team members.
  • Provide expertise on product, disease, and anatomy for current and future AbbVie Vision Care products.
  • Offer unaccredited programs for HCPs addressing learning needs related to scientific and clinical issues in vision care (e.g., product administration techniques, monitoring and management of patient treatment).
  • Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with external experts and act as the primary contact for clinical training requirements.
  • Support the Vision Care therapeutic area in alignment with Innovation Medicines Canada (IMC) guidelines and AbbVie\'s healthcare compliance principles.
Qualifications

Education / Experience required:

  • Licensed Health Care Professional (e.g., Registered Nurse, Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist, Certified Ophthalmic Technician JCAHPO certified).
  • Relevant surgical glaucoma disease expertise:
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or medical devices industry, and training-related experience (minimum of five years) is an asset.
  • Solid clinical and scientific knowledge of the glaucoma therapeutic area.
  • Strong knowledge of eye anatomy.
  • Knowledge of principles of adult learning and IMC guidelines.
  • Strong commitment to compliance, quality and integrity and working knowledge of the health care environment and its evolving landscape.
  • Understanding of the Canadian regulatory environment.

Essential skills and abilities:

  • Advanced proficiency with technology tools in project management is an asset.
  • Advanced presentation skills and knowledge of PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong listening and interpersonal abilities.
  • French language skills considered a strong asset
  • Ability to travel extensively and adhere to a rigorous schedule (up to 60% including weekends and evenings).
