Work environment
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is a key player in public safety. We supervise and reintegrate offenders serving sentences of two years or more. On a typical day, CSC manages approximately 15,000 offenders in 43 institutions and more than 8,500 offenders under supervision in the community. CSC supports professional growth and offers career development opportunities and continuous learning.
Intent of the process
CSC will review applications received weekly and contact applicants selected for further assessment based on the needs of the region. It is important to indicate all locations where you want to work.
The immediate needs are located in Agassiz (Kent Institution and Mountain Institution) and in Abbotsford (Frazer Valley Institution and Regional Treatment Center - psychiatric hospital). The qualified pool from this process may be used to staff similar positions on an indeterminate (anticipatory), term, or casual basis.

Education
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in social work.
Occupational Certification
Registration as a Social Worker with a provincial registering/licensing body.
Experience
Experience in providing Social Work services to clients in mental health settings or correctional settings. Experience working independently with minimal clinical supervision. Experience working as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
Additional qualifications (optional)
Education
Graduation with a Master’s degree in Social Work from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in social work.
Experience
Experience providing Social Work services to culturally diverse populations; in community mental health, medical, acute or forensic settings; in crisis intervention; in establishing, developing and managing partnerships with community-based services; and in serving vulnerable populations (e.g., cognitively impaired / brain-injured, geriatric, disadvantaged or in conflict with the law, Indigenous peoples).
