Position Summary

This position is responsible for teaching students in an assigned field of study using diverse instructional methods and tools. Responsibilities include developing curricula, preparing teaching materials, assessing student progress, and ensuring proper stewardship of college facilities and resources. The role also involves participating in meetings, events, and committees, and upholding college policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Teach students using various methods including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, labs, seminars, case studies, field assignments, and projects.
  2. Develop curricula and prepare course materials, including audiovisual and web-based content where appropriate.
  3. Administer and grade assessments, providing detailed feedback on student performance.
  4. Support students and prospective students through advising on curricula and career options.
  5. Provide tutorial or remedial instruction as needed.
  6. Maintain effective stewardship of classroom facilities, equipment, and materials.
  7. Supervise independent or group projects, field placements, and hands-on training.
  8. Adhere to VCC policies, including availability to students and confidentiality.
  9. Participate in departmental and college meetings and serve on relevant committees.
  10. Perform other related duties as required.
Area Hiring Criteria
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.
  • Current unrestricted registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • At least three years of nursing experience, including a minimum of two years (2800 hours) of full-time Canadian nursing practice, with experience working with older adults with complex health needs.
  • Experience or orientation in home support and complex care.
  • British Columbia Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent, begun within two years of hire.
  • Completion of coursework in Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.
  • Courses in geriatric nursing or gerontology are assets.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
