Reports To: Manager, Client Services

Status: Temporary, Full Time

Shift: Flexible

Number of positions: 1

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: Expected to go until March 2026 with extension anticipated for one more year March 2027.

Compensation: 5% premium, paid bi-weekly

Purpose Of The Role

The Clinical Educator reports to the Operations Hiring Supervisor and is responsible for the coordination and provision of training and related administrative duties associated with the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Program. This program is an opportunity to address challenges to hiring, training or retaining Phlebotomists in Northern Ontario.

Core Accountabilities
Accountability: Training Development, Maintenance and Facilitation
  • Oversee trainee learning events and placement rotations based on required competencies.
  • Ensure all onsite amenities are arranged for the trainee.
  • Create a schedule of technical training events for discipline‑specific tasks / requirements.
  • Conduct training and competency on discipline‑specific tasks, supervise practice and provide support and mentorship throughout the program.
  • Assess and identify trainee knowledge gaps and devise strategies for success.
  • Complete all required paperwork for all program trainees.
  • Provide updates to the project manager regarding progress of trainees.
  • Consult with other Clinical Educators & Operations Leadership to ensure transition between locations or placement rotations or benches is seamless and meets competency requirements while maintaining departmental resource thresholds.
  • Assist in problem solving related to training programs and provide input as required.
Accountability: Training Coordination
  • Coordinate and act as a resource for designated trainers.
Accountability: Safety
  • Observe and execute all laboratory safety and security policies and regulations, including location and use of safety equipment, evacuation routes, disposal of contaminated material.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety/WHMIS and TDG procedures.
Accountability: Miscellaneous
  • Maintain confidentiality involving any information made available directly or indirectly about clients including physicians, patients, employees and the company.
  • Perform other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Must have a vehicle; travel required to various locations within the North Eastern Ontario region (e.g., Sudbury, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie).
Required Education

High School or Equivalent.

Required Experience

Minimum 2–3 years MLA/LPT phlebotomy experience. Minimum 1 year experience conducting phlebotomy and specimen handling training.
