Dillon’s Linear Municipal Infrastructure discipline is looking for a Civil Engineer‑In‑Training to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Coordination and Design

  • Assist project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of municipal infrastructure related to water supply, sewers, roads, land development site servicing, storm water management and waste management
  • Assist project managers, engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams (including project engineers, planners, biologists, technologists, etc.)
  • Complete design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members

Business Development

  • Contribute to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentations
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices

Learning and Development

  • Commit to self‑development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in civil engineering
  • Registered as an engineer‑in‑training, or be eligible within six months
  • 0 – 2 years' experience, preferably in the consulting industry
Experience
  • Knowledge of the functional and detailed design of integrated municipal infrastructure including roads, sewers and water mains
  • Understand a range of project design and implementation activities, including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration
  • Working knowledge of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D/Land Desktop software will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with local regulations, policies, guidelines, and provincial and municipal permit requirements for environmental agencies
  • Proven skills in detail design of municipal infrastructure
  • Familiarity with both construction inspection and contract administration would be considered an asset
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential
