Job Description

Our client is seeking Child & Youth Workers to provide services to children and youth in group homes and community settings in Mississauga on a casual basis. Shifts will be assigned based on availability, and regular hours are not guaranteed.

Shift Options:

  • Day Shifts: 7 AM - 3 PM
  • Evening Shifts: 3 PM - 11 PM
  • Overnight Shifts: 11 PM – 7 AM

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide one-on-one and group support to clients in foster homes, family homes, group homes, day programs, hospitals, and educational institutions.
  2. Support children, youth, and adults with various mental health diagnoses.
  3. Assist clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, community walking, recreational activities, and relationship-building techniques.
  4. Support development of life skills, safety skills, and anger management.
  5. Provide conflict resolution and problem-solving assistance.
  6. Encourage participation in activity programs.
  7. Utilize harm reduction practices to de-escalate crises and manage high-risk behaviors.
  8. Complete administrative duties within required timeframes.
  9. Participate in care planning as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. A Human Services Diploma (e.g., Child & Youth Worker, Social Service Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Personal Support Worker, Addictions and Mental Health Worker).
  2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals diagnosed with ASD, mental health issues, or special needs.
  3. Experience in writing incident reports, serious occurrence reports, and daily logs.
  4. Clinical skills, including managing difficult behavior.
  5. Ability to implement safety and client care plans.
  6. Vulnerable Sector Search within the last six months.
  7. Criminal Background Check.
  8. Child Welfare Check.
  9. Certification in crisis intervention (e.g., CPI, UMAB).
  10. First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
  11. Valid G license and access to a reliable vehicle are preferred.
  12. Ability to work various shifts with minimal notice.
