Your responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Executive Chef as Chef de Cuisine, inspirng the culinary team to deliver world-class food for guests. Lead concept-driven menus that reflect Q at the Empress’ position as a leader in Pacific Northwest cuisine.
  • Work in partnership with the Executive Chef to execute the smooth and flawless culinary operation of the Restaurant, Bar, In Room Dining venues and Special Events.
  • Be accountable for day-to-day operations of the restaurant kitchen, maintaining a presence on the floor to lead the team to service excellence.
  • Drive revenue and profit through menu design, strategies, practices and promotions while aligning with the overall concept.
  • Manage the department budget through purchasing, inventory, pricing, and labour cost controls.
  • Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new colleagues.
  • Train and lead the team in all aspects of the department and ensure service standards are followed.
  • Promote growth and development of internal talent.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to manage restaurant social media accounts in accordance with standards.
  • Maintain kitchen safety and sanitation; collaborate with other departments to ensure hotel operations run smoothly.
  • Create and maintain all restaurant menus in keeping with the overall restaurant concept.
  • Drive innovation to position the restaurant as a premier destination within the community.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and values.
  • Other duties as assigned.
