Job Summary

Are you an up-and-coming Houdini technical artist, someone who is proactive, has great communication skills and a passion for problem-solving? We are looking for a keen technical assistant to help our CFX team with our latest animated feature.

What You’ll Do
  • Work closely with our CFX supervision team and pipeline TDs to identify and debug common issues facing production
  • Troubleshoot common problems with animation deliveries, suggest workarounds and fixes
  • Test and validate new releases of Houdini CFX rigs
  • Assist CFX artists with day-to-day issues and glitches and elevate those issues through the right channels when they aren’t immediately addressable
  • Assist with the technical workflow for the CFX department
  • Communicate and promote repeatable, pipeline-based workflows that ensure data security and efficiency throughout the production
  • Create and update documentation that supports CFX processes
  • Establish close partnerships with Animation and FX staff and other TD groups
What You’ll Need
  • 6 months of experience on an animated/VFX feature, working as a TA, is desirable but not a requirement
  • Experience with Houdini
  • Experience with cloth, fur and feather tools is preferable
  • Experience using Linux in a production environment is preferable
  • Excellence in proactive problem‑solving skills
  • Adaptable approach with the ability to balance your workload, the needs of artists, and production deadlines
  • Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize work across multiple areas under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to the success of the team and project

This role is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hybrid Role (Minimum of 3 days a week in the office).
