A reputable construction company in Nova Scotia is seeking a carpenter to work on various projects. The ideal candidate will have a secondary school graduation certificate and 1-2 years of experience in carpentry tasks including reading blueprints, estimating costs, and constructing wooden structures. The position offers competitive hourly wages and the ability to work on-site in various locations.

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Dusty. Outdoors. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Estimate costs and materials. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Own tools/equipment: Safety equipment/gear. Steel-toed safety boots. Safety glasses/goggles. Gloves. Ear plugs.
Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.

Offers flexible onboarding options to allow Veterans to gradually adapt to the civilian workplace (for example: gradually increasing hours and responsibilities, etc.). Support for Indigenous people: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers. Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers. Support for mature workers: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports mature workers. Provides staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for mature workers. Supports for visible minorities: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities. Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
