Opportunity knocks

As a Buyer – Inventory Planner, you will review Sinclair’s inventory status weekly to ensure the stock is maintained at optimal levels. You will prepare purchase orders, submit orders to vendors and review the confirmations of 10,000+ SKUs across multiple vendors. You will communicate with internal parties as needed, ensuring timely inventory replenishment. You will solve delivery issues by monitoring open PO’s and communicating with vendors as required. Also, you will update PO’s costing, process special & rush orders and oversee initial inventory & replenishment for new product launches, discontinuations and product turnovers. In addition, you will maintain effective communication with the Receiving Team, Customer Service and Sales. You will create new products, carry out supplier searches, optimize relationships with suppliers as much as possible, negotiate prices and / or contact terms and find equivalences in collaboration with the assistant. You will also collaborate with the accounting department regarding “tracking” (follow-up for suppliers, credit card payments or bank transfers, customs clearance), etc.

Your story

You studied supply chain or purchasing (PMAC, APICS, SCMP or equivalent) and possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a buying / planning role, preferably in a wholesale environment. You are confident working with manual & computerized processes and systems (ERP / MRP). You have excellent knowledge of purchasing concepts, practices and procedures, and you possess a good level of Microsoft Office knowledge, especially Excel. You have good English communication skills, both oral and written, and you are detail-oriented by nature, anticipate the inventory needs, enjoy teamwork, and work under little supervision. You love to be challenged, with proven ability to multi-task, face deadlines naturally, and you are quickly adaptable to various and frequently changing requirements.

Qualifications

  • University or College diploma and minimum three years manufacturing, distribution, or purchasing experience in a large-scale business; or equivalent combination of education and experience; previous experience in import logistics, inventory planning, and transportation preferred
  • CPIM, CPP certification or be working towards certification.
  • Must have minimum intermediate MS Excel skill.
  • Experience with SAP or comparable ERP system and MS Access is preferred.
  • Fluent with concepts, processes and terminology of MRP, Purchasing, Demand Management, Product Management, Vendor Relations Management, Forecasting and Inventory Management.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communications and presentations.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively to external stakeholders including non-native English speakers, senior executive management, and all other levels of personnel throughout the organization.
  • This includes excellent skills in oral and written communications and presentations as required
