Overview

Job Title: Business Process Improvement Specialist

Competition No: 2025-279

Duration: Temporary Full Time

Salary: $7,629 – 7,946 – 8,285 – 8,647 – 9,014/month (2024 Rates)

Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:45 PM (Nine-Day Fortnight)

Responsibilities
  • Lead project initiatives for improvement of business workflows, procedures, and tools.
  • Lead process improvement projects based on data analyses; define project scope and requirements; establish metrics and track performance goals to support management decisions on strategy, operations, and cost saving objectives.
  • Consult with various departments to assess business needs; analyze and document current work and system processes performed by staff; identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks in workflows; review data on processing times and resource utilization.
  • Design and recommend solutions to enhance the speed and accuracy of processing workflows related to organizational structures, system implementations, policies and procedures.
  • Develop frameworks to monitor and evaluate performance and results; gather and incorporate feedback for continuous improvements; monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented changes.
  • Prepare and conduct presentations to demonstrate value propositions; facilitate decision-making workshops; lead, consult and participate in cross-functional teams to deliver current and future state process mapping and other business process reviews; develop recommendations for improvements.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of documents, files, and reports related to the work; perform related work as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline including formal training in Lean/Six Sigma and project management methodology; plus sound related experience as a continuous improvement professional, preferably in a municipal government setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • considerable knowledge of principles, methodologies, tools, and standards applicable to business process planning and related project management, change management, performance measurement and reporting; techniques and methodologies such as Lean/Six Sigma; municipal processes, procedures, bylaws and policies related to land development and approvals.
  • Ability to analyze critically, think strategically, and solve complex problems; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to translate technical information into plain language.
  • Skill in the operation of software applications and ERP systems such as Energov and Microsoft Suite (e.g. Excel, Visio).
