Job summary

A construction and parts supply company in Hope, BC, is seeking a Bookkeeper to manage full cycle accounting and assist in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of bookkeeping experience and knowledge of GAAP. This role may offer part-time or hybrid work arrangements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Acumatica are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Manage full cycle accounting including Cash, A/R, A/P, and Inventory.
  • Complete month-end reporting including reconciliations and GST returns.
  • Aid in developing internal controls and compliance with regulations.

Bristol Parts Ltd. based in Hope BC, specializes in supplying a wide range of quality parts for heavy machinery. While we are a relatively new company, our team has over 30 years of experience in the industry and we are driven to grow the company. We are looking for a Bookkeeper to help us navigate that growth.

The Bookkeeper plays a fundamental role in the accurate and timely preparation of the company’s financial statements and reports. Reporting to the Corporate Controller of the Dent Group of Companies, this position works closely with the operations/sales team to maintain accurate financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, provide useful financial information to stakeholders in a timely manner, and ensure company compliance with government and other stakeholder regulations.

The Bookkeeper is systems-focused and constantly seeks opportunities to improve processes within the finance department and the company overall. This requires a strong understanding of the company’s operations and how they relate to the financial records of the company. The Bookkeeper must be proficient in prioritizing their work to ensure task deadlines are met.

Responsibilities
  • Full cycle accounting including Cash, A/R, A/P,and Inventory management.
  • Complete month-end reporting requirements such as bank and credit card reconciliations, GST returns, etc.
  • Maintain a schedule of fixed assets and record appropriate amortization
  • Work with the controller to complete a monthly reporting package for senior management.
  • Assist in the formulation and management of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.
  • Help in the development of reports for regulatory bodies, bank, etc. as required.
  • Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.
  • Utilize the company’s ERP system to facilitate processes and maintain records.
  • Prepare ayear-end reporting package for the company's public accountants.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience, specifically performing the responsibilities above.
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and financial processes (financial closure, reporting, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting software.
  • Experience with Acumatica is an asset.
