Job summary

A leading mining company in Kirkland Lake, Ontario is seeking a Bolter (Miner 2) for its Macassa Mine. The role involves removing waste and ore, operating drilling equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Candidates must have a minimum of a high school education and possess strong organizational skills. Bilingualism in French/English is preferred. This position operates on a 7 days on, 7 days off schedule.

Qualifications

  • Holds required modules listed in sub-category of Underground Mining Classification Guideline.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

You will be reporting to Supervisor, and you will be part of the Maintenance Department. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Receives and follows directions from supervisor or leader.

Removes waste/ore from work area with LHD equipment remote and manual.

Sets up jumbo and/or longtom, bolter, alimak or scissor truck. Drills off face lateral and raise development and conventional stop and/or install primary ground support as per standard.

Assists in the construction of sill mats, stagings, fill fences, barricades, head covers, using jacklegs and stoppers and other construction jobs as required. Installs track when required.

Assists with the cleaning, loading, priming, timing and wiring the drill holes according to blasting standards; clears the affected areas; posts guards and assists with blasts.

Safely and efficiently tears down equipment and removed it to safe location.

Drills and installs secondary group support.

Drills and/or blasts oversized muck when required.

Practices and initiates proper dilution control. Communicates and works effectively with the leader, supervision and the geologist to meet grade control expectation.

Reads and follows engineering prints, survey lines and breakthrough warnings. Measures and documents data as required. Accurately shoots lines and marks up face as required.

Inspects workplace and equipment to ensure work can be performed and completed safety and on schedule.

Completes pre-op inspection and fills out card. Incumbent corrects and reports any variance to the supervisor or leader.

Performs the required work to safely meet productivity expectations and scheduled.

Provides accurate and detailed reports on work accomplishments, hazards, status and condition of workplace and equipment to supervisor.

Attends and participates in crew safety meetings and supports approved safety programs.

Obtains supplies and materials required to complete work assigned for shift.

Identified and communicates to the leader what is required for material and tools for the oncoming shift to continue the operation in progress.

Complies with all blasting procedures and instructions.
