A non-profit organization is seeking engaged volunteers for its Board of Directors in Milton, Canada. This important role involves providing strategic direction and supporting the organization's goals related to mental health and addictions. Board members commit 3-4 hours monthly, attending meetings either in-person or virtually. Also required for this position: Key responsibilities include:Providing Strategic Direction: Establishing a clear vision & mission to align initiatives with community needs.Advancing Organizational Goals: Supporting Stride's goals to foster growth, innovation, & outreach.Monitoring Progress: Regularly assessing performance against strategic goals & making necessary adjustments.Ensuring Effective Oversight: Safeguarding Stride’s financial health & ensuring accountability in all operations.

Our Board of Directors is composed of dedicated volunteers from the Halton, Peel, and surrounding communities who are committed to making a real impact. As a member of our Board, you'll help guide Stride in creating life-changing opportunities for individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges to find meaningful employment and thrive in their communities.
At Stride, we believe that employment is more than just a job—it’s a pathway to independence, dignity, and an improved quality of life. Our Board plays a crucial role in shaping our vision and driving strategic initiatives that empower people to succeed.
The Commitment: Serving on the Stride Board is an opportunity to make an impact with a manageable time commitment—just 3-4 hours a month for a two-year term. Our meetings are held at our Milton head office or virtually on the last Thursday of each month from 5 pm to 7 pm.

Certification or Education Required
To serve effectively as a Board member candidates should possess a solid understanding of Board governance, legal & regulatory frameworks, & ethical standards. This knowledge is crucial for ensuring compliance & fostering integrity within the agency. Strong leadership & communication skills are essential for collaboration & decision-making. Additionally, a genuine interest in mental illness & addictions will enhance your ability to guide the agency's services, ensuring they meet community needs.
